A STRIKING sculpture of a pair of buzzards in Malvern has been described as the town’s own version of the Angel of the North.
The £17,500 artwork, recently installed at Rosebank Gardens, were designed by renowned sculptor Walenty Pytel to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
Malvern’s deputy mayor John Jordan believes that, like them or loathe them, the buzzards have very quickly become a mustsee attraction in the town – just like the opinion-splitting Angel of the North statue in Gateshead.
“You can hardly come to Malvern and not see the buzzards now. They are proving a great talking point,” he said.
“Like the Angel of the North they are so striking you just cannot ignore them.”
