A HISTORIC property is celebrating recordbreaking visitor numbers at the start of the new year.
The National Trust’s Croome estate, near Upton, used to close during the week over winter but changed that policy this year after receiving countless requests from visitors.
Croome Court is now opening every day except Tuesday, while the surrounding park is open seven days a week.
Visitor services manager Amy Forster said the move is paying off, with a record 1,500 visiting during the first week after the end of the school holidays.
“We have thrown open our doors this winter after receiving lots of comments last year that people still wanted to visit us during the winter and the response has been brilliant,” she said.
“We felt like we were missing a trick by closing in the week during the winter – so many people would still turn up when we were closed.”
