A PROMOTER has cooked up a monthly outlet for sharing new and unsigned music with local music fans.
John James, who bakes and sells cupcakes as the owner of Stamford Cakery, has turned his hand to the Malvern music scene and will stage Cakie Presents nights at Re-con in Church Street.
Starting on Friday, January 25, with Alex Round, Little Liam and Adorn, he will use the nights to showcase artists, bands and musicians that audiences may have not seen live before and help them gain a wider audience.
John said: “I love unsigned music, no matter where I find it.
“And not only will you find great artists playing live at these events you will hear unsigned music in the intervals, find leaflets on all the tables containing social media links of artists and I, as the host, will advertise bands by wearing their t-shirts.
“I hope people will support these gigs and fall in love with this raw and beautiful music as I have done.”
Each band will play for 45 minutes and all the proceeds raised from the £3 entry fee will be split between them.
Cakie Presents gigs are already booked until July, with artists such as Ronin, Time of the Mouth, Stompin’ On Spiders, A Poetic Yesterday, Jenny Hallam, Khaos Theory and AC/DC tribute Riff Raff lined up, along with many more.
Neil Collins, who owns the Re-con with Amanda Stone, said: “We met John at our annual family music festival in Colwall and we were so impressed with his passion for unsigned music that we thought his events would be a perfect match for our aspirations to make Re-con one of the premier live music venues in our area.”
