FOUR local primary schools took part in a maths challenge based on the popular TV programme Dragons’ Den at Dyson Perrins CE Academy.
Teams from the schools, Somers Park, St Matthias, Suckley and Great Malvern, faced a challenging day of interactive maths and business problems and puzzles.
The teams worked on a cupcake challenge, using their business skills to work out the cost of making cupcakes for a Christmas fair, followed by a card challenge, in which they had to design cards and once again work out the costs.
Having completed their challenges, they then had to pitch them to the ‘Dragons’, who after tough questioning pronounced the team from St Matthias the winner.
Assistant head Peter Wallace said: “The day was successful, with each team working co-operatively and with all their enthusiasm.
“They really enjoyed furthering their business and mathematical skills through practical problems.”
