PROTESTORS pitched “sold”
signs on top of the Malvern Hills as they campaigned against “land grabs” in developing countries.
Campaigners from Oxfam and Amnesty International were at British Camp on Friday to highlight their anger at large areas of land in African, Asian and South American countries being sold off to foreign investors.
Local Oxfam campaigner Liz Lloyd said: “Imagine if the Malvern Hills, an area of outstanding natural beauty, was really auctioned off and sold to foreign investors and we had no choice.
“Walkers were genuinely shocked and surprised to see the land grab in action and it brought home to them what they are like and the devastating impact on victims.”
