A CAR flipped onto its side on black ice caused by water running off the Malvern Hills.
Police attended the junction of Wells Road and Old Wyche Road, in Malvern Wells, at 6.30am on Sunday after the crash involving a silver Vauxhall Zafira.
Although no one was hurt, another driver who had a near miss just minutes later believes more should be done to alert people. Julia Ellis, of Lygon Bank, said: “Our own car hit a large patch of ice and skidded for several yards across a frozen lake of black ice from water running off the hills onto the road.
“A small warning triangle had been erected, too close to the dangerous area to be very effective even when driving at a moderate speed.”
Jon Fraser, Worcestershire County Council’s customer and community manager, said the road was inspected by engineers this week and “appropriate action”
would be taken.
“The extreme weather we have experienced over the last few weeks has resulted in the Malvern Hills becoming saturated.
As temperatures have fallen, we have responded to the challenge of icy roads with spot gritting.”
