TWO Worcester promoters have teamed up to deliver some festive cheer in the name of charity next week.
The Little Hellfire Club and Young Pop Things present a Christmas special packed with musical goodies in aid of Acorns Children’s Hospice at the Marr’s Bar, Pierpont Street, on Friday, December 7.
Each band will add to the seasonal feel by producing a set half of which will be Christmas tunes.
Promoter Pete Adams said they are excited about showcasing Das Sexy Clap, the Thyme Machine, the Joy of Sex and one of his own groups, Lost Boy Scout.
“The line-up is great and all the bands playing will be sprinkling their sets with Christmas hits, so this promises to be a real one-off night,” said Mr Adams.
“Acorns does great work looking after children and families of children suffering from life-limiting illness and we hope to raise as much as we possibly can for them.
“Although it’s a free entry show, all we ask is that you give what you can in one of the buckets provided.”
The city’s own Das Sexy Clap occupy the headline slot, with a loud and proud set of shouting, thumping drums and dirty guitars.
Lancaster’s the Thyme Machine return offering lo-fi indie pop and a touch of glam fronted by Kriss Forster, with everything from party poppers to bubble machines thrown in for good measure.
The gig also doubles Lost Boy Scout’s Worcester debut as a full band with members of the Rafters and the Capital after previously existing as Pete’s solo project.
While the new post-punk riot that is the Joy of Sex features members of We Do Kung Fu!, KGB Slideshow and Rich Owens of Evilwitch as their frontman.
On top of all this, there is the promise of surprise guests, sweets, general nonsense and perhaps even a visit from old Saint Nick himself.
Entry is free but donations to Acorns are encouraged and welcomed.
