A PENSIONER from Upton has been punished for two driving offences in a supermarket car park.

Evelyn Farley, of Greenfields, Upton, was found guilty of driving without due care and attention and failing to stop after an accident outside the Co-operative Food store, Poole Road, Upton, on Friday, April 6.

Lesley Ashton, prosecuting at Worcester Magistrates Court, said the 73-year-old was seen reversing her Volkswagen Polo into another car causing minor damage, including a dent and some scratches to its rear bumper.

Ms Ashton said: “She got out of her car to have a look and thought there didn’t appear to be any damage so got back into her car and drove away.”

Mark Lister, defending, said the car park is very difficult to get into and out of as it is in a courtyard with a narrow entrance.

Mr Lister added: “She was coming out of that car park and caused very minor damage at very low speed while misjudging a turn.

“She got out and had a look but did not think she saw any damage.

“But she accepts she should have stopped and exchanged details.”

For the of fence Farley received five penalty points on her licence for failing to stop and was fined £85.

She was also ordered to pay costs of £60 and a £15 victim surcharge.
