A STUDENT from Malvern was given a special insight into the world of online gaming.
Kym Payne was selected to take part in a pilot workshop at independent state-funded academy Birmingham Ormiston Academy – a specialist digital, creative and performing arts school in the city’s Eastside district.
Led by digital games architect Ashley Brown, the Gamer Lab workshop invited young people to produce web-based games, developing both their design skills and their understanding of the programming and logistics involved.
The 14-year-old said: “My game revolved around throwing objects through hoops and although I enjoyed creating the artwork, my favourite part of the session was learning how to make the game work. I loved creating the coding and thinking about everything logically.”
The games developed at the two-day session were made available online and shared with family and friends.
