I AM afraid Tarik Al Rasheed’s otherwise excellent article on the proposed housing blueprint for Malvern in last week’s Gazette, failed to highlight three important points.

Firstly, the initial vote, on whether or not to accept the original SWDP proposals, was very close, at 17 for and 18 against, with two abstentions and one councillor absent.

Having reneged on an agreement, five years in the making, our representatives went on to support the Council Policy Group (CPG) proposals.

Secondly, whilst the description of the atmosphere as tense and heated is spot on; the description of our councillors as being “uncertain” about what they were voting on is charitable, to say the least.

I sat through the same (posterior numbing) five hours, and the proceedings were a farce.

Thirdly, to describe the outcome as ‘people power winning the day’ is true, but spurious.

We have been let down by some of our councillors, who have simply made a bad situation far worse.
