THE November meeting was our AGM and summarising reports were given by all officers on the past year’s activities.
Guy Phillips the outgoing chairman thanked everyone for their support on what had been a difficult term of office for him in the past three years, during which time we had lost many good friends.
The election of officers was held with Reverend Father Roger Watson our Chaplin kindly officiating and the new appointments are: Chairman – John Mason, Vice Chair – Guy Phillips, Secretary – Fred Davis and Treasurer – Roger Gurney.
Thanks to Lyn Derret for her hard work as PAO over the past five years and sincere thanks also to our valued collectors who go out in all weathers during the fortnight.
Special thanks also to Madresfield Club and the Bluebell who staged special promotion evenings for the Poppy Appeal. The winners of the Haig Challenge cup this year are the Bluebell in Callow End and the first winner of the newly designated Schools Poppy Cup is Madresfield Primary.
And finally, very special thanks to Lara Byrne for her fantastic trumpet playing of the Last Post and Reveille and to all the uniformed groups on parade at Powick whose wonderful turnout and behaviour made the day extra special for all of us.
JOHN MASON
