MALVERN Youth and Community Trust has been given a £1,000 grant to help it compile an oral history of the town’s youth centre, now called the Cube.

The cash has come from Worcestershire County Council’s Celebrating Diversity fund, and Cube staff are urging everyone with memories of the Albert Road North centre to come forward.

Jon White of the trust said: “Many visitors have fond memories of their times as young people here. We are currently revitalising the theatre space as a gig venue, offering comedy, poetry and live music theatre on a weekly programme.

“This is a reflection of the time when the centre was renowned as a place to see and be seen.

“Substantial acts once graced the stage here, from Jethro Tull to Deep Purple, Mark Lamarr, Bill Bailey and Nigel Kennedy.”

Anyone who wants to take part in the project should contact malverncube.com or viits the Malvern Cube Facebook page.
