"THE Malvern public will be glad to know that the new motor buses have arrived and that in a course of a week the old Wolseley car, which has become so familiar a figure on the local roads, and which, it may be added, has done valuable service in the past, will now give place to a new and up-to-date service of motor traffic," reported the Gazette 100 years ago.

"On Tuesday evening, Messrs W and B Woodyatt Ltd had delivered to them at their garage from the makers Messrs Dennis of Guildford, two powerful up-to-date motor omnibuses, which will, it is hoped, go a long way towards solving the vexed problem of linking up the Malverns.

"The cars are 28 horse-power Dennis cars of the motor omnibus type, comprising the latest improvements, and the most up-to-date mechanism.

"The prevailing colour of the decoration is a Panhard red, and the cars are nicely upholstered, the seating, which is in the char-a-banc fashion, providing accommodation for 16 passengers.

"The cars will be illuminated from the inside, and are calculated to provide in every way for the comfort of the passengers. They accomplished the run from Guildford to Malvern on Tuesday, despite the wretched weather, in a most satisfactory way.

"Messrs Woodyatt are as yet unable to specify the whole of the details of the proposed new service. But they hope to place one of the buses on the road next week, to take over the service from the Link to the Wells. The other car will be held in readiness in case of emergencies, and also for private work, until the third car arrives.

"It is hoped that when the new bus takes the road, the public will cooperate as far as possible with the firm in making the new service a success."
