DESPITE his sarcasm and apparent hatred of discos, Paul White makes a good point regarding live music in Malvern. (Gazette Opinion November 16) However, he does seem to have a rather short and selective memory. Mr White states that live music is a “vital” element in social life, then goes on to sweepingly label teenagers as drunks, vomiting on the pavement and “lobotomised” purely for daring to “like” a disco or two.

As a music lover in his mid-50s, I actually like music of any kind, be it be performed live or through the decks of a DJ.

Furthermore, I have had some really enjoyable nights in the company of young people, who, like any other age group, know how to enjoy themselves without all wandering about the pavement afterwards vomiting.

As for Mr White’s assertion that there are little opportunities for local acts to perform, I tend to disagree.

For instance, live singers and other acts have been performing every Saturday night at Newtown Club for several years now.

I would suggest to Mr White, that he come join us at Newtown Club this coming Saturday, when a local group called Legends will be playing live.
