A WOMAN from Malvern is tonight bidding for the title of ultimate party host on a television show.

Lucy Hird, a former pupil of The Chase, will be seen across the nation as the knives and forks come out for the Channel 4’s Come Dine With Me.

The 26-year-old, who works in PR, is pitting her culinary skills against a group of four strangers from across the West Midlands.

With £1,000 on the table for the contestant who impresses their fellow guests with their cooking, hospitality and entertainment, there is certainly food for thought.

Ms Hird said: “I am a massive fan of Come Dine With Me and always used to watch saying ‘I could win that’, so I had to apply when I found they were filming in my area.

“It is very different to watching the show as there is so much filming and they obviously have to edit it down to a half-hour show – it would be brilliant to watch the full un-edited evenings.”

Despite having seen herself on screen all week, she still isn’t used to the experience. “It was really weird to begin with – I’m convinced the camera adds 10 pounds, either that or all the food,” she said.

Viewers who tuned in yesterday will have seen her cooking up an Oriental feast inspired by her travels around Thailand.

Tune in at 5pm to find out if Lucy wins.
