EXCITEMENT is building ahead of what promises to be a truly spectacular Christmas celebration in Upton-upon-Severn tomorrow.
Upton Tourism and Trade Association (UTTA) is busy putting the finishing touches to preparations for a day of celebrations for the whole family to enjoy.
Hundreds of people are expected to pack into the picturesque riverside town for its Christmas Extravaganza on Saturday. They will be able to enjoy a host of exciting attractions ranging from craft and farmers markets to a live nativity procession and even a real ice rink.
The fun starts from 10am, when Christmas craft and farmers markets will be selling a dizzying array of festive fayre. The sports pavilion car park, in Old Street, will be transformed into an outdoor ice-rink and children will be able to meet Father Christmas between noon-2pm and 2.30-5.30pm.
There will be Christmas storytelling at the Church Rooms, in Old Street, between 11am-4pm and festive carol singing at 5.30pm, before the live nativity procession, from High Street to the Waterfront, starts at 6pm.
Visitors will be able to get a first look at Upton’s brand new state-of-the-art Christmas lights and a 20 foot Christmas tree.
There will also be a children’s treasure hunt running throughout the day (entries cost £1) and a host of tempting Christmas fayre including a pig roast and mince pies.
Supervised creche care will be available and a park and ride service will run from Hanley Castle High School and Upton Medical Centre.
