I HAVE lived in Upton since 1969, a really nice vibrant little town.
Recently we have been affected by repairs to the bridge and walls built on the river front – this has had an impact on our small shops, which we are lucky to still have.
Now our tourist information centre is being relocated to the Heritage Centre.
This is a bad mistake.
It is , at present, in a perfect position for visitors – which we are dependent on in the summer – to see on the corner of Church Street and High Street.
Visitors coming from Hanley Road car park see it at once. If relocated they will have to cross our busy High Street and retrace their steps through the churchyard. A lot won’t bother.
