EDDIE Grundy of The Archers is the special guest at Malvern Community Action’s annual charity fair tomorrow (Saturday).
Trevor Harrison who plays the long-running character in the BBC’s rural soap opera, will open the fair at 10am at the York Hall, Malvern St James, Avenue Road.
He is a long-term supporter of the charity.
This year promises to be bigger and better than ever and boasts stalls from charities including Positive Thoughts and Malvern Special Families as well as national charities such as Diabetes UK.
MCA chief officer Jacci Phillips said: “This is the perfect event for everyone in Malvern to support their favourite local charity and get their cards and presents at the same time.”
Among the charities taking part is Home- Start, whose volunteer Viv Hesketh has created a beautiful patchwork quilt which she has generously donated to raise funds for MCA. Hours of work have been lovingly put into the colourful cover.
Mrs Hesketh, who has been volunteering for five years, said: “I was estranged from my only daughter and two grandchildren for eight years, and, by volunteering for Home- Start and having contact with children, I was better able to cope.”
The fair is on until 2pm.
