ORGANISERS of a charity auction in aid of Malvern Special Families have been astounded by the support they have received from local people.
They had hoped that the event, at Malvern St James school would raise £5,000 for the charity that supports families with disabled children, but instead it raised more than £8,000.
Organisers Lisa Hinchliffe, a parent, and Mark Wilson, a trustee, were delighted with the success of the night, which attracted about 200 guests.
Mr Wilson said: “The night exceeded our expectations in every way and it was great to see everyone enjoying themselves whilst also fund-raising for our special families.
“The money will be invaluable for MSF as we seek to provide more fun social opportunities for children with disabilities from across the region.
“It is so easy to take eventgoers for granted but the night would not have been possible without the generosity of Malvern St James, local people and businesses .”
