THE Malvern unit of the Navy Training Corps will be holding an open evening tonight (Friday) at Holy Trinity Church Hall, Link Top, between 7.15pm and 9pm.
The unit accepts boys and girls aged eight to 18 and the open evening will give prospective cadets the opportunity to come and see what the corps does and ask questions of the staff.
The Unit has two sections, Naval and Marine for cadets aged 12-18 and a Junior Section for the eight to 12 age group.
Activities include expedition training, canoeing, sailing, shooting, football, swimming and many other activities including the Duke of Edinburgh's Award.
For senior cadets there is the opportunity to take part in field gunning, which consists of manoeuvring a scaled-down field gun around an obstacle course.
Cadets from the unit have already this year taken part in a competition in Portsmouth in which they won the Africa Challenge Field Gun Trophy.
Anyone unable to attend the event can contact the unit on 07594 882729.
