ONE of the main beneficiaries of Malvern Rotary Club’s fund-raising Tree of Light campaign will be Macmillan Cancer Support.
This year 45 per cent of proceeds will go to Macmillan and Malvern Rotary Club spokesman Sandy Gibson said it was an important cause to support.
“Remembering that one in three of us will receive a cancer diagnosis at some time in our lives, Macmillan, while funding nurses and other specialist health care professionals, recognises the need for more than medical help and offers practical, emotional and financial support,” he said.
“In the background, as treatments improve, more and more people are living with cancer.
“The support services are available not only to patients who live with cancer, but also to families, carers and communities.
Macmillan guide people through the system supporting them every step of the way.”
The Tree of Light offers people the chance to dedicate a light on a tree in Priory Park, at the rear of Malvern Theatres, in exchange for a donation.
The tree will be lit up during a special ceremony at 6.30pm on Monday, December 3, and a list of sponsors’ names, and lives remembered, will be displayed at Malvern Theatres, the Worcestershire Hub at Malvern Library, in Graham Road, and online at malverngazette.co.uk.
