100 YEARS AGO.
Mr H F S Morgan, Malvern Link, riding one of the Morgan cars at Brooklands, on November 9th, won the Olympic one hour's race for cycle cars and sidecars, breaking the previous world record for cycle cars by seven miles and the world's record for sidecars by two miles. On the same day, he won the cycle car record fot one kilometre, one mile and 50 miles.

50 YEARS AGO.
On Sunday, the first of two programmes in the new BBC quiz series, Treble Chance, is to be recorded at the Winter Gardens, when a Malvern team challenges the resident BBC team in a 30-minute quiz covering music, sounds, voices and knowledge. The local team consists of Mrs Sheila Green, a housewife, Mr Charles Dunbar, a journalist, and Mr Ron Twitty, a local government officer.

25 YEARS AGO.
The poll tax planned by the government to replace rates could cost Malvern Hills ratepayers up to £200,000 a year over and above any increase in their individual bills. It was revealed at a district council committee meeting that the money would be needed to provide poll tax offices and extra staff. Offices would have to be converted for 20 extra staff to handle the new system.
