A SPARKLING night of comedy, divas and romance awaits audiences at Malvern Theatres next month.
Olivier-winning show The Rise and Fall of Little Voice is a heart-warming northern fairytale written and directed by Jim Cartwright.
It features Beverley Callard, who is best known as Liz McDonald in Coronation Street, Joe McGann (Calendar Girls and Upper Hand), the X-Factor finalist and Dancing on Ice winner Ray Quinn and introduces Jess Robinson as Little Voice.
Shy Little Voice spends allher time immersed in her late father’s record collection perfecting an array of astonishing impersonations, to the dismay of her fun-loving and out-of-control mother Mari.
After being overheard singing by Ray Say, a hapless talent scout and Mari’s man of the moment, she is propelled to stardom as Ray sets about creating the show of the century in the dingy local working man’s club.
With an agent from London coming to judge her vocal delivery and everything gambled on one performance, Mari and Ray’s ticket to the big time rests squarely on Little Voice’s shoulders.
However, no one has taken the time to ask Little Voice what she actually wants.
The show runs from Monday to Saturday, October 8-13, in the Festival Theatre, with evening performances at 8pm and matinees at 2.30pm on Wednesday and Saturday.
It features songs from the world’s most iconic divas, from Marilyn Monroe to Shirley Bassey, Judy Garland and many more, making for a star-filled performance.
