HULL Truck’s highly acclaimed production of Alan Bennett’s The Lady in the Van is coming to Malvern Theatres this week.
Directed by Sarah Esdaile, this heart-warming and heart-breaking play tells the story of Alan Bennett’s unusual neighbour – a lady who lives in a clapped-out Bedford van, parked in the playwright’s front garden. The mysterious Miss Shepherd and her van move in one day – and never move out.
Olivier Award winner Nichola McAuliffe gives a bravura performance in the play about one of the most unusual friendships you will ever see and is full of warmth and wit, with great oneliners.
Bennett himself is portrayed by actors Sean McKenzie and Paul Kemp, whose previous appearances have included Birdsong for the BBC.
The Lady in the Van is at Malvern Theatres between Tuesday, May 29 and Saturday, June 2.
Tickets from £15.50 (under 26s £8) are available from by calling 01684 892277 or online at malvern-theatres.co.uk.
