A MODERN take on the creation of the world will provide a spectacular start to performances of contemporary mediaeval mystery plays at Worcester Cathedral in the run-up to Christmas.
The plays will tell the traditional stories of creation, Adam and Eve, Noah, the Nativity, the Three Kings and the evil King Herod.
The production, which is a ground-breaking collaboration between Worcester and Gloucester Cathedrals, aims to bring these traditional plays completely up to date.
The Dean of Worcester, the Very Reverend Peter Atkinson, said: “It will be exciting to see these ancient but contemporary dramas brought to life in the magnificent setting of our cathedral.”
Kevern Oliver, the organiser at Worcester Cathedral, said: “This is an exciting event and we want a sellout with as many people as possible coming along to experience traditional tales from the Bible told in such a different way.”
Performances of the plays will take place on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
Tickets cost £12.50 (£10 for under 16s) and £10 (£8 for under 16s) and are available from the Worcester Live Box Office in Huntingdon Hall, CrownGate Shopping Centre, Worcester.
