A COMMUNITY touring arts scheme is making its very first visit to the Pickersleigh area in Malvern, thanks to local volunteers.
Residents involved in the Big Pickersleigh Project have organised the first Shindig event in the area – a production of the old classic tale of Hansel and Gretel being performed by Fairgame Theatre Company.
The curtain will go up at The Grove Primary School at 4pm on Saturday, November 24. Banished to the woods by their cruel stepmother, Hansel and Gretel must outwit the witch and find their way home in this dark and tender production of Grimm’s classic fairy tale.
Lured by her scrumptious house made of sweets, the two heroes have to use every ounce of cunning (and a couple of old bones) to escape the witch and return to the sunlight.
With toe-tapping tunes composed by Thomas Johnston and captivating words spun by the cast under the award-winning direction of Greg Banks, Fairgame and the Big Pickersleigh Project challenge local people to resist temptation.
The production is suitable for adults and children aged seven and over. Tickets cost £6 or £20 for a family of four.
