POET Dick McBride, one of the famous Beat Generation, who lived in the Malvern area since 1988, has died aged 84.
Mr McBride lived in San Francisco in the 1950s and 60s and became friends with writers such as Jack Kerouac, Allen Ginsberg and Lawrence Ferlinghetti.
He was placed at the centre of the beat universe when he became a book clerk in the now world-famous City Lights Bookstore of San Francisco.
Mr MrcBride published many volumes of prose, poetry and plays.
A funeral service will take place on Friday, September 14, at Worcester Crematorium at 2pm.
