THIEVES stole a motorbike, damaged it and dumped it in a nearby field in the early hours of this morning.

The motorbike was stolen on Lower Howsell Road, in Malvern, at approximately 3.45am and was wheeled away from the property.

Ring Doorbell footage appears to show two of the men approaching the property before disappearing out of frame.

A spokesperson for West Mercia Police confirmed the theft and said that an investigation is ongoing.

They said: "I can confirm a Vespa motorbike was stolen and damaged just before 4am this morning, but was later recovered and returned to the owner.

"Investigations are ongoing.

The owner, who wished to remain anonymous, was alerted to the theft by a neighbour.

They said: "I first became aware that something was wrong when my Ring Doorbell camera went off at 5.30am.

"When I went to the door, it was our neighbour who said he thinks somebody had stolen the Vespa.

"Upon watching the footage from the middle of the night, I saw three men approach my house at 2.48am and went out of frame for a bit, they later left and returned at 3.45am.

"From here they pushed the bike away from the house and I think it must have seized up whilst they were pushing it as it is so heavy.

"It was recovered after being dumped in a nearby field but it is now a total write-off with all the damage."

The owner pleaded for other motorbike owners to take the necessary steps to ensure their property is secure.

They said: "I feel like I am hearing more and more about thefts like this so I just want people to know this happened.

"I am not sure what the answer is but people need to be vigilant and ensure they are taking all precautions to secure their motorbikes."
