A CAT owner has spoken out after her beloved pet was shot for the second time.
Mildred, who is three years old, was shot with an airgun in Broadlands Drive, Malvern, on Sunday, April 30.
An x-ray revealed the pellet had landed close to the ginger cat's heart – puncturing her lung.
Luckily, the vet was able to treat the animal and her owner, Zoe Kemp, says she is recovering.
"She was just sitting by the water bowl, I picked her up and she was covered in blood under her chest," said Mrs Kemp, who has another cat called George.
"I phoned the vets and she had been shot again, it is just above her heart. They x-rayed her, they had to put her on a drip – it was touch-and-go at one point.
"I think my cat has used up all her nine lives."
The first time Mildred was shot, the pellet landed near her brain and vets were unable to operate.
Now Mrs Kemp says she won't be letting either of her cats – who are siblings – out of the house, for fear they will get shot again.
"I just can't believe someone would have an air rifle and wait and look out of their window and shoot a cat – it is just disgusting, there is no need for it," added the 45-year-old.
"You can get water in a squirty bottle and squirt them, you do not need to shoot them."
Mildred and her brother George are both British shorthair Persian cross breeds.
Police are appealing for witnesses, or information about the incident which took place between 7.30am and 4.45pm, on Sunday, April 30.
Anyone with information can call police on 101, quoting reference number 0381S 030417.
