A PLANNING appeal into an application to build houses on land owned by former Malvern Hills council leader David Hughes has been postponed.
The application, by Greenlight Developments, to build 21 houses at Clay Green Farm, Alfrick, was refused permission by district councillors in February.
The developers appealed the decision, and an informal appeal hearing started on Wednesday, October 14, but on its second day, inspector decided the appeal should be held as a formal inquiry.
In a letter to the council's planning department dated Monday, October 19, Bernard Harte of the planning inspectorate wrote: "It became apparent that cross examination of technical evidence was required.
"Following representations of the main parties and after hearing the views of third parties, the inspector agreed that a public inquiry procedure was required.
"The appeal will now be re-started as a local inquiry and new start letters will be issued in due course."
The application was vocally opposed by many Alfrick residents.
