THIRTY years of jazz will be celebrated in suitably swinging style later this month.

Upton Jazz Festival celebrates its 30th anniversary between June 25 and June 28, and a line up of big bands will aim to draw in the biggest crowds yet.

For the first time, music will for four days ring out of 10 venues in the historic town centre, along with riverboat shuffles on the River Severn and jam sessions for would-be jazz musicians to showcase their talents.

Waterside pubs like The King's Head are back on board after a two-year absence and organisers have spent the past 10 months making sure the festival is the biggest and best yet, with the buzzing Jazz City festival village at the heart of the riverside town.

Jazz fans can expect the usual mix of New Orleans and Dixieland, modern, European and gypsy jazz along with a lively fringe festival and brilliant atmosphere and a line up featuring the Buck Clayton Legacy Band, Stockholm Stompers, Harlem Madness and Pedigree Jazz Band.

It will include a plethora of food and drink outlets and three huge marquees with dance floors, along with the festival campsite and trade stands.

This year marks the return of Dance@Upton, a phenomenon started in 2014 by ex-UK Lindyhop champions Bridget and James Hamilton.

They will host dance classes and for the first time, festival Saturday will see a huge festival carnival parade, with professional dancers, party bands and children from local primary and high schools parading through Upton's historic streets.

The festival's musical director, Rachel Hayward, said: "We're so excited about this year's festival, especially with music stretching over four days for the first time.

"A lot of the campers come on the Thursday and we just thought, we've got all these people turning up and we have the marquees up, so why not do something for them?

"We're proud to be hosting the 30th festival this year and we're really looking forward to the next 30 years."

Tickets cost £28 for the Friday, £38 for Saturday, £33 for Sunday or £78 for the weekend.

Camping costs £30 for the whole festival.
